Team Lead Shipping and Receiving

Location: Edmonton, AB & Aldergrove, BC

SUMMARY: 

The Team Lead Shipping is responsible for supervision of Shipping, Receiving and Yard Personnel. Coordinating delivery schedule with the Order Desk and Production Manager, Inventory Management and Quality Control.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all equipment has been inspected daily by operators prior to using/operating including lift trucks and stud chopping machine for cutdowns.
  • Strapping of material on production carts (use of banding machine)
  • Assisting of supplying coils to production
  • Putting material in storage rack
  • Receiving and marking coils; scanning paperwork, attaching mill certs
  • Rotating coils so older coils are in front of newer coils
  • Checking orders for next day loads one at a time. Making sure all info from one order is relayed to order desk before moving on to the next order.
  • Mapping and planning loads
  • Organizing truck shipments; being professional, courteous and respectful to all shipping agencies
  • Counting, paperwork, quality control
  • Loading and unloading material on trucks
  • Stacking coils
  • Housekeeping – ensure that the yard is kept neat and clean; includes sweeping and picking up debris in yard and shop
  • Emptying knock out and garbage bins
  • Final check on completed loads; signing paperwork once double checked; making sure drivers receive and sign correct paperwork

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a supervisory role is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with production personnel, order desk, customers, couriers and truck drivers.
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Crane experience
  • Knowledge and skill to operate a forklift (Certification required)
  • Experience in use of chop saw and steel binding machines
  • Working knowledge of industry maintenance requirements and best practices
  • Ability to work well as a team player in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to train employees including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments

 

ADDITIONAL:

  • 40 Hours/week
  • Occasional Overtime may be required.
  • Schedule varies based on branch requirements.
  • Additional hours (4-6hrs) will be required once a quarter on a Saturday for inventory cycle counts
  • 80% of the workday is outside in the yard.
